APP

The app design is based on research and interviews. From social media, some individuals would like to share their achievements in the support group and show pleasure after compliments. From the interview and questionnaire, the participants agree that wishing they can have more family time and get more support from family can motivate them to keep doing exercise.

The App aims to create a family connection and increases motivation by recording the achievements and the family‘s emotional support. The function and interface are tested for users to easily use and find the information they want. In psychology, positive reinforcement means when you award a behavior, the behavior will increase.

From research, colour can affect mood and emotions. Here is the colour choice for the app. Green is a calming colour that is often used in medical-related. Yellow and orange are cheering, often used in active and encouraging ways. Black, grey and white as the text and button designs for easy reading.

The app has two systems, one for the user and one for the family member. They can use it to record the achievements and exercise patterns of the user. The family system has a website version for easy check-in when they are not using the phone, like working on a computer.

User system, in the beginning, it’s like making a friend with a user, to ask the user’s name there are three choices for users to choose for their daily plan. It solves the problem that the user may be not familiar with the proper exercise time they need or they can do.

The home page directly shows the daily footsteps, how many days they reach the goal, and how long they have been doing exercise. Once the goal is reached, the icon will turn to cheering yellow. There is also a graph to show the pattern.

First function, timeline, users are growing this with their family. The timeline will record all the achievements and all the check in or congrats messages from the family. The design is like a tree. The family is growing it. It gives a responsibility hint to the users. From the timeline, users can see the weekly and monthly reports.

Next is the reminder. The reminder is like an alarm, but it is linked to the family account. So family members can use their account to remind the user.

In settings, users can choose the selection or person they want to share the information with. They can also change the exercise plan or set up the plan themselves.

Family member’s don’t have the exercise function, others are similar to the user’s but different designs. That can avoid logging into the wrong system.

Family members will receive the notification when the user has reached the daily goal, if the user chooses to share this information. Then the family member can use the mailbox to send a message to check in or encourage the user. There are quick sentences and emoji choices for them to use when they are busy. The family member will receive the reminder notification. And have a quick reminder button to send a reminder message to the user.
